For the fourth consecutive year, the Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport (ROC) has been named one of the best small airports in the country in the USA TODAY 10Best Readers' Choice Awards. ROC was one of 10 winners chosen from 106 small-to-medium sized airports nationwide.

"Being named a top-ten small airport is an honor. Earning that honor four years in a row shows a commitment to excellence," said Monroe County Executive Adam Bello. "This past year, we completed the $38 million terminal renovation, transforming the entire airport campus into a state-of-the-art facility. We've also added new airlines and new non-stop routes for business and leisure travel, and we'll keep working to make ROC the most convenient, hassle-free experience for travelers."

An expert panel nominated 20 facilities from the 106 possible airports to vie for the award, and readers voted the top 10 winners. ROC finished 9th in the voting this year. These airports serve fewer passengers but stand out for their commercial flight options, easy access, and distinctive amenities.

At ROC, travelers enjoy:

  • A state-of-the-art green light parking guidance system
  • Free video arcades and children's play areas in the A and B Concourse rotundas, created with the Strong Museum of Play
  • Free high-speed Wi-Fi courtesy of Greenlight Networks
  • Comfortable, modern lounge seating
  • A mix of local and national dining options
  • Charging stations throughout the terminal
  • The Corporal William T. Perkins Jr. Veterans Area
  • The Frederick Douglass Airfield Observatory

The airport is also committed to accessibility for all travelers. Hearing loops are available throughout the terminal, and the free Aira ASL live interpreter app supports deaf and hard-of-hearing passengers. Complimentary Aira Network membership supports blind and low-vision passengers.
