Colorado Springs ranked #5 Best City in America for Veterans to Live by WalletHub

Ahead of Veterans Day, Colorado Springs has been named the #5 Best City in America for Veterans in WalletHub's latest "Best & Worst Places for Veterans to Live" analysis, highlighting the community's strong employment opportunities, quality of life, and access to veteran-centered services.

WalletHub's methodology compares the 100 most-populous U.S. cities across 19 indicators in four dimensions to identify communities where veterans can thrive: employment, economy, quality of life, and health. Indicators include veteran unemployment and income growth, housing affordability, the prevalence of homeless veterans, access to VA benefits and health facilities, and community supports such as restaurants and venues offering military discounts.

Colorado Springs' recognition underscores the daily commitment of the City of Colorado Springs and local partners, including employers, higher education, health providers, and veteran-serving nonprofits, to ensure veterans and their families have clear pathways to good jobs, safe and stable housing, and meaningful belonging in Colorado Springs. The City's long-standing ties to the military, anchored by five installations and a vibrant network of veteran service organizations, continue to strengthen the region's economy and community life.

"This ranking is an affirmation of what we know about Colorado Springs; that we are one of the top military and veteran communities in the nation," said Mayor Yemi Mobolade. "It reflects our exceptional quality of life, our strong sense of belonging, and our shared commitment to those who have served. Our veterans are woven into the very fabric of our city; they are our neighbors, civic leaders, entrepreneurs, seniors, and everyday heroes. They represent the best of who we are. Colorado Springs is proud to be home to approximately 100,000 veterans, and my promise as mayor is to continue making our city one of the very best places in America for veterans and those who stood beside them."

"This ranking shows the importance of a community that takes care of its Veterans," said Bob McLaughlin, executive director at Mt. Carmel Veterans Service Center. "In Colorado Springs, we believe every Veteran deserves a place where their service is honored and their transition is supported. Veterans who live here are welcomed - and empowered to thrive."

According to WalletHub, Colorado Springs' overall performance reflects strengths across multiple dimensions that matter most to veterans and their families - from job prospects and veteran income growth to the availability and quality of VA facilities - along with a comparatively low rate of veteran homelessness.
