"Floridians know better than anyone that disaster recovery must move quickly and with transparency. When businesses and families are working to rebuild after devastating storms, they deserve an agency that delivers results. Just in the short time I've been in the Senate, I've worked hard to facilitate the return of $1.7 billion in reimbursements to the state through FEMA and passed legislation into law that provides accountability in the reimbursement process. • Senator Moody is dedicated to securing disaster recovery funds for Florida communities impacted by hurricanes and natural disasters.
• During his tenure as the Secretary of Homeland Security, Markwayne Mullin has worked closely with Senator Moody to reimburse 467 FEMA projects thus far, providing the State of Florida with over $847 million in federal assistance.
• Disaster recoveries for Florida have now reached $1.7 billion.
• As the hurricane season continues, Senator Moody is committed to improving accountability and ensuring communities receive timely support.
• The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee also considered the nominations of Brian Cavanaugh to serve as Under Secretary for Management at the Department of Homeland Security and James Woodruff, of Florida, to serve as Chairman of the Merit Systems Protection Board.
