Loma Linda University Health to host 53rd annual Fine Arts Festival

Loma Linda University Health (LLUH) will host its 53rd Annual Fine Arts Festival beginning April 18, offering a seven-week series of concerts, exhibits, performances, and creative showcases featuring students, faculty, staff, and community members.

The festival highlights a broad range of artistic disciplines, including music, visual arts, poetry, acting, and youth performance. Events will be held at venues across Loma Linda and Redlands and are open to the public.

The festival begins April 18 with the Sacred Choir Festival at 4:30 p.m. at the Loma Linda Indonesian Church, 10827 California Street in Redlands. The program will feature more than 200 voices from eight choirs representing area Adventist churches.

An Art, Photography, and Mixed Media Exhibition will run from April 20 through June 1. Artwork registration and drop-off for LLUH students, faculty, and staff will take place on April 20 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Loma Linda Civic Center, 25541 Barton Frontage Road. Community members, along with university faculty and students, may register and deliver artwork from 2 to 4:30 p.m. the same day at the LLU Drayson Center, 25040 Stewart Street. Loma Linda University's Got Talent! will be held April 25 at 8 p.m. in Room 1402 of the Loma Linda University Church, 11125 Campus Street. The event will showcase the musical talents of LLUH students, residents, and faculty. A celebration of creative hobbies and vintage collections will take place April 26 from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Loma Linda Romanian Adventist Church, 26271 Mayberry Street. The event will spotlight community members who invest their free time and resources into developing intricate artistic hobbies and curated collectibles.

On May 2-3 and May 9-10, the festival will present Acts of Kindness: The El Paso Play at the LLU Centennial Complex Damazo Amphitheater. The docudrama, written by Gregory Ramos, explores the grief, resilience, and hope surrounding the 2019 mass shooting at an El Paso Walmart that claimed 23 lives. Performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Saturdays and 2 p.m. on Sundays. The production is co-produced by Dr. Kenneth R. Wright and Otinelis Iancu and co-produced and directed by Brady Greer Huffman.

Poetic Voices will follow on May 6 at 7 p.m. in Room 3208 of the LLU Centennial Complex. The event invites campus and community members to listen or share original poetry. On May 16, the LLU Church Spring Concert will begin at 4:30 p.m. in the LLU Church Sanctuary, featuring the Sanctuary Choir, orchestra, and organist Kimo Smith.

The festival concludes May 17 with the Ivory Showcase at 2 p.m. at the Loma Linda Civic Center, highlighting outstanding young musicians from the Loma Linda community, ages 7 to 18.
