According to Euromonitor, Bulgaria's spirits market reached 75.54 million liters in 2025, up 2.1 percent from 2024, while current-price retail value increased 9.3 percent to about $1.73 billion. Vodka remained the largest individually reported category; tequila and mezcal grew fastest from a small base, while gin lost momentum. Bulgaria's National Statistical Institute (NSI) recorded $14.2 million in U.S.-origin imports under Harmonized System (HS) heading 2208, down 25 percent from 2024 but 45.3 percent above 2021. A comparison of NSI and U.S. Census Bureau data indicates more than half of these imports entered through other European Union (EU) countries. Whiskey remains the main opportunity for U.S. suppliers, although price sensitivity, competition, taxes, promotional costs, EU-specific bottle sizes, and labeling requirements remain important constraints.
