MALAYSIA EXTENDS CONDOLENCES FOLLOWING CASUALTIES AMONG

UNIFIL PEACEKEEPERS IN SOUTHERN LEBANON

The Government of Malaysia extends its deepest condolences to the family and Government of Serbia for the loss of life of a Serbian peacekeeper serving in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), on 4 June 2026, as a result of injuries sustained following an incident near Marjayoun, southern Lebanon on 3 June 2026.

The Government also extends its well wishes for the recovery of two peacekeepers from El Savador and Spain who also sustained injuries.

Malaysia stands in solidarity with UNIFIL and condemns in the strongest terms the continuing attacks targeting United Nations peacekeepers. These attacks on peacekeepers and the civilian population continue amidst escalating hostilities, as a direct result of Israel's violations of Lebanon's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and are unjustifiable.

Malaysia calls for an end to these hostilities and for all parties to fully uphold their obligations under international humanitarian law, to ensure the protection of UN peacekeepers and the civilian population in Lebanon.
