Copeland Expands Manufacturing Capabilities in India to Strengthen Global Supply and Accelerate “Make in India” Vision

PUNE (Jan. 15, 2026) - Copeland, a global leader in compression technologies and controls solutions, announced it has completed the first phase of its ₹500 crore investment at its Atit, India, manufacturing facility. The expansion strengthens Copeland's capabilities in India by localizing scroll hermetic compressor manufacturing, making Copeland the only company to manufacture scroll compressors in India. The completion of Phase One is marked by the successful delivery of the inaugural batch of 5 HP India-built scroll compressors, underscoring the company's strong commitment to the "Make in India" vision, which aims to position India as a global manufacturing hub.

As India's HVACR market is projected to grow to USD 45.4 billion by 2033, facility plays a critical role in localizing advanced technologies and reducing import dependence. With a strong focus on transport segments including railways, metro systems and e-bus applications, the Atit facility has grown into a diversified manufacturing hub producing compressors, condensing units and heat pumps that support the energy transition, adoption of low-global warming potential (GWP) refrigerants and sustainable cold chain infrastructure.

Over the last two years, more than 350 SKUs have been added across multiple categories at the Atit, India, site. The facility has also furthered the development of compressors compatible with low-GWP refrigerants including R-32, R-290, R-454A and R-454B.

Copeland is deepening its commitment to local talent development, with its India manufacturing workforce consisting of 100% local employeesacross production, engineering, supply chain and quality functions. The company has introduced workshop modules to build a skilled, future-ready workforce that can support the next phase of factory modernization and product innovation.
