FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: November 11, 2025
ATLANTA |Today, Lt. Governor Burt Jones joined Georgians across the state in honoring the service and sacrifice of veterans, active-duty military personnel, and their families. He also recognized the outstanding work of the Georgia Department of Veterans Service (GDVS) under the leadership of Commissioner Dr. Patricia "Trish" Ross.
"Georgia is proud to be home to more than one million veterans and military families," said Lt. Governor Burt Jones. "These men and women represent the best of our state and our nation. Their bravery and sacrifice will never be forgotten and will always be appreciated. I'm proud that Georgia continues to lead the way in connecting veterans and their families with the care and resources they've earned. Thanks to Commissioner Ross and her dedicated team, thousands of Georgians have received meaningful support that honors their service."
Lt. Governor Jones played a key role in securing funding to expand veteran services across the state, ensuring the GDVS can continue its mission to connect veterans to benefits, care coordination, and community programs. Under Commissioner Ross's leadership, GDVS has made remarkable progress in strengthening access to care, connecting veterans to over 10,000 community programs available on the Unite Georgia network. Since 2022:
14,277 veterans, family members, and caregivers served
22,944 coordinated care cases created
96.5% resolution rate, with 21,580 successfully resolved cases
"These numbers represent real people whose lives are being changed for the better," said Commissioner Ross. "From healthcare and education to employment and legal support, we are helping veterans and their families navigate the resources they need to thrive. We remain committed to ensuring every Georgia veteran receives the benefits they've earned through service to our nation."
Veterans, caregivers, and family members seeking assistance can easily connect with local support through the Georgia Veterans Foundation. Individuals can complete an Assistance Request Form, which connects them directly with a Unite Georgia Care Coordinator within 48 hours, or browse available programs through the Public Resource Directory. Unite Georgia, powered by Unite Us, is a coordinated care network made possible through partnership with GDVS and community partners across the state.
