The pedestrian struck and killed Tuesday at 9:50 p.m. on Lafayette Street near Fairfield Avenue is tentatively identified as a 62-year-old Nashville man. Efforts are underway to positively identify him and notify his next of kin.
The pedestrian was crossing Lafayette Street when he was struck by an eastbound driver of a 2024 Toyota Camry. The motorist, who reported that they were unable to avoid the collision, remained on the scene. The pedestrian was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died.
This fatal crash occurred outside of a crosswalk. No charges were placed against the driver.
