FAA Proposes $263,750 Fine Against Southern Airways Express for Alleged Operations of an Unairworthy Aircraft

WASHINGTON - The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) proposes a $263,750 civil penalty against Southern Airways Express of Addison, Texas, for allegedly operating an aircraft with inoperative required equipment.

The FAA alleges that in April 2025 the company operated 29 commercial flights using a Cessna Caravan with a malfunctioning autopilot in violation of its Operations Specifications.

Southern Airways Express has 30 days after receiving the FAA's notice to respond to the agency.
