The City of Reno is excited to announce two special Speedway Saturday events happening in the new year!
The City will host its first-ever all-ages Speedway Saturday event on Jan. 24 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will feature participants of all ages competing in organized age-based tournament brackets. Registration is $20 per person.
On Feb. 28 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the City will host a special edition of Speedway Saturday, called Sparkle Speedway Saturday. The tournament is open to children ages 5 to 17 and will feature themed races on the 'sparkliest' of tracks, a fashion show, crown decorating and karaoke. Participation in this event is free.
Both events will take place at the Evelyn Mount Northeast Community Center located at 1301 Valley Road. In the spirit of Mario Kart, participants are encouraged to dress as their favorite characters, but it is not required.
Space is limited for both events, so pre-registration is required and must be completed before 9 a.m. the morning of the tournaments. A prize will be awarded to the first-place winner of the final battle for each event.
Both events will include a lunch break, with the tournaments taking a brief pause. Children younger than 12 years old must have a parent or guardian present at all times.
