14 Prime Healthcare Hospitals Named to Forbes' Inaugural "Top Hospitals by State" List for Clinical Excellence
Hospitals across 10 states honored for excellence in patient outcomes, experience, value and best practices
ONTARIO, Calif. (July 27, 2026) - Prime Healthcare today announced that 14 of its hospitals have been named to Forbes' inaugural "Top Hospitals by State " list, including six, nonprofit Prime Healthcare Foundation member hospitals.
"The list stands out for its emphasis on clinical outcomes-such as rates of mortality, infection and readmissions-and for the distinct way the methodology adjusts for social drivers of health, like socioeconomics and access to medical care," said Rachel Rabkin Peachman, editor of Forbes Top Hospitals. "By accounting for these factors, which have been shown to impact health, within the framework of validated healthcare measures, Forbes' ratings offer a more level comparison of each hospital's quality, despite differences among hospitals' locations or patient populations."
The Forbes Top Hospitals by State list recognizes approximately the top 30% of eligible hospitals in each state and D.C. based on Forbes Top Hospitals 2026 national hospital ratings. Hospitals were evaluated using validated quality measures from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), and the list was produced in consultation with nationally recognized measurement experts, data scientists, and health policy researchers. The ratings assess hospitals across categories including patient outcomes, best practices, value, and patient experience, with patient outcomes receiving the greatest weight.
"This recognition from Forbes is a true affirmation of our focus on delivering exceptional clinical quality, expanding access to care, and strengthening the health and well-being of the communities our hospitals serve," said Dr. Sunny Bhatia, President and Chief Medical Officer of Prime Healthcare. "Importantly, it honors the extraordinary dedication our physicians, nurses, and caregivers have for the patients who place their trust in us every day, and our commitment to advancing quality by investing in our hospitals and workforce."
The following Prime Healthcare hospitals were named to the Forbes Top Hospitals by State 2026 list (asterisks denote members of Prime Healthcare Foundation):
"It is especially meaningful that our Foundation hospitals have been named among Forbes' inaugural Top Hospitals by State," said Dr. Kavitha Bhatia, President and Chair of Prime Healthcare Foundation. "Our mission is rooted in the belief that every community deserves exceptional care, especially those facing the greatest barriers to health. This recognition reflects our enduring commitment to expanding access to outstanding, patient-centered care. We are grateful to our teams whose compassion and purpose bring hope and healing to patients and families every day."
In recent months, Prime Healthcare hospitals have also been honored in Becker's Hospital Review's 100 Great Community Hospitals list, earned 26 "A" Grades in Social Responsibility from the Lown Institute Hospitals Index, placed six hospitals on the Lown Honor Roll, received numerous Healthgrades clinical excellence and patient safety awards, and were recognized by The Leapfrog Group for excellence in patient safety.
