Applications are now open to Maine school districts to support teacher apprenticeship, Ed Tech apprenticeship, and registered pre-apprenticeship funding. This opportunity is intended to support districts in developing, implementing, or expanding apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship pathways that help recruit, prepare, support, and retain future educators.
These funds are designed to help reduce barriers for aspiring educators by supporting earn-while-you-learn pathways that include paid employment, structured on-the-job learning, mentorship, related instruction, and progress toward certification.
We encourage districts to consider how this opportunity may support your local educator workforce needs and help strengthen your long-term educator pipeline. Applications may be submitted for teacher apprentices, Ed Tech apprentices, and registered pre-apprenticeship pathways, with funding caps outlined in the application.
Please note: In alignment with the Maine Department of Labor rules, districts with apprenticeship pathways supported by previous grants were expected to plan for sustainability beyond the life of the initial grant. As a result, Educate Maine cannot automatically approve funding for existing sponsors or sub-sponsors through the new grant award. Organizations seeking funding must apply through the application process and be selected for support.
Submissions should be made by July 15 to be considered for Phase One funding. Preview the application here:
