Statement on the threats to block the Bab al-Mandab Strait

In reference to recent developments in the southern Red Sea basin and the safety of commercial navigation through the Strait of Bab al-Mandab, Poland expresses its strong opposition to any and all threats issued recently by the Houthis, who claim the right to interfere with the freedom of navigation through this crucial international corridor. The conflict in the Persian Gulf and the resulting blockade of the Strait of Hormuz have already seriously jeopardized global trade routes. Tampering with yet another crucial shipping route could negatively impact the global humanitarian situation and may deprive many countries of the resources necessary for the daily sustenance of their economies, thereby impacting a myriad of interconnected supply chains around the globe.
