The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners proclaimed the month of September 2025 as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month during a Sept. 4 regular meeting.
According to the American Childhood Cancer Organization, each year an estimated 16,790 children aged 0-19 in the United States are diagnosed with cancer, with approximately 413,000 children diagnosed each year worldwide.
Representatives from Georgia Highlands Medical Services and the American Cancer Society were present to accept the proclamation.
During September, the Board encourages Forsyth County residents to increase their understanding of this disease.
