The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that a new commuter lot will officially open to the public on Monday, June 22, 2026. As part of the ongoing improvements associated with the I-95 East Lyme project, commuters who currently use the temporary commuter lot located on Frontage Road will transition to the new commuter lot off Route 161. The temporary parking lot on Frontage Road will permanently close on that same date. Directional signage will be installed to help guide commuters to the new location.
Commuters are encouraged to plan ahead and familiarize themselves with the new parking lot location before June 22, 2026. View the new location of the park and ride in East Lyme.
CTDOT Project No. 0044-0156 was awarded to Manafort Brothers at a cost of $148,000,000 on February 1, 2023, and is scheduled to be completed in Spring 2027. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 2 in Norwich.
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
