The Johnson County Department of Health and Environment invites expectant parents, new parents, grandparents and caregivers to a free Community Baby Shower from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, July 11, at Church of the Resurrection, 8412 W. 95th St., Overland Park.
The family-friendly event will provide practical safety education, community resources and support to help families prepare for baby's first year. Focusing on the leading preventable safety risks during infancy, the Community Baby Shower connects families with trusted local experts and resources to help keep babies safe and healthy.

Families can enjoy children's activities, a puppet show, a photo booth, Baby Shower Bingo with prizes, light refreshments and opportunities to connect with community partners. Attendees may also receive safety goody bags filled with baby care and home safety items, while supplies last. Attendees who complete the safe sleep education activities may be eligible to receive a Pack 'n Play while supplies last.
"Our goal is to give parents and caregivers the knowledge and resources they need to help keep babies safe during their first year of life," said Katie Schatte, Safe Kids Johnson County Coordinator. "By bringing together trusted community partners in one place, we hope families leave feeling more confident, connected and supported."
The Community Baby Shower is made possible through partnerships with local organizations committed to supporting the health, safety and well-being of families.
