Lieutenant Governor Primavera Appoints Shelby L. Fyles to the 23rd Judicial District Court

DENVER - Today, pursuant to her authority as acting Governor under the Colorado Constitution, Article IV, § 13, the Lieutenant Governor Dianne Primavera appointed Shelby L. Fyles to the 23rd Judicial District Court. The vacancy is occasioned by the retirement of the Honorable Elizabeth B. Volz and is effective February 2, 2026.


Ms. Fyles is an Associate Judge for the City of Aurora, a position she has held since 2023. Her docket consists of municipal matters. Previously, she was Senior Lead Deputy District Attorney (2021-2023), Senior Deputy District Attorney, Child Victim Unit (2019-2022), Senior Deputy District Attorney, General Felony (2017-2019), and Deputy District Attorney in the 17th Judicial District Attorney's Office (2012-2017). Ms. Fyles earned her B.S. from American University in 2006 and her J.D. from the University of Notre Dame Law School in 2011.
