ESAB Corporation has opened two new NextLabs demonstration facilities in Gothenburg and Laxå, Sweden, expanding its global network of customer-focused innovation and training centers.
The purpose-built facilities represent a multi-million-euro investment and are designed to showcase ESAB's full portfolio of welding and cutting technologies, including equipment, automation, filler metals, and digital solutions. The centers provide hands-on environments where customers, partners, and employees can explore integrated workflows and emerging applications across industries.
Advancing Customer-Centered Innovation
"NextLabs Gothenburg demonstrates the strength of ESAB's complete portfolio - from power sources and automation to filler metals and digital solutions - working together as integrated workflow solutions," said Peter Burchfield, general manager of ESAB's Global Equipment Solutions Group. "By investing in infrastructure, such as welding studios, automation cells, and digital solution displays, we are strengthening our ability to educate, inspire, and demonstrate how ESAB helps solve real-world challenges."
Antonio León, ESAB's vice president of global partnerships, added that the new facilities are designed to foster collaboration and technical exchange.
"NextLabs elevates our sites into true destination centers for customers, partners, and employees," León said. "Laxå, in particular, gives customers a dedicated environment to explore advanced submerged arc solutions in action. We built these spaces to support dialogue, application-focused problem-solving, and skills development for fabricators and our distribution partners."
Showcasing Integrated Welding Technologies
Founded in Gothenburg in 1904, ESAB has a long history of research, development, and process innovation. The 750-square-meter NextLabs facility in Gothenburg features eight to 10 demonstration cells and can accommodate up to 30 participants for training sessions.
The center highlights a wide range of technologies, including ESAB's light and heavy industrial welding equipment, automated and mechanized systems, laser welding solutions, filler metals, and the company's InduSuite™ digital productivity tools.
Featured technologies include the ROBBI™ 360 collaborative welding cell, the Aristo® Edge 500R power source, and the RoboFeed Edge wire feeder, along with other automation and digital solutions designed to support modern manufacturing workflows.
Expanding Capabilities in Laxå
The Laxå facility serves as a central hub for ESAB's engineering and production of heavy-duty welding automation systems. The 600-square-meter NextLabs center is dedicated to submerged arc welding (SAW) and showcases ESAB's capabilities in large-scale automation.
The Laxå center includes a fully equipped SAW column-and-boom system with Aristo® 1001 AC/DC power sources, tractor-based welding systems, multiple demonstration cells, and seating for up to 30 training participants, with additional space available for larger groups.
Supporting Training and Industry Engagement
According to the company, the decision to launch NextLabs in Sweden reflects ESAB's focus on modernizing the customer experience and accelerating innovation.
The facilities are expected to host training programs, distributor events, product launches, and application workshops throughout 2026 and beyond. Customers can also request customized demonstrations of newly released or upcoming products.
