SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV - Eight Shepherd University students have earned the Peace Corps Prep Certificate. Students earn this distinction by completing a rigorous program designed to prepare them for international service and careers in global engagement.
The Peace Corps Prep program combines targeted coursework, hands-on experience, leadership development, and intercultural competence to equip students with the skills needed to serve in communities both at home and abroad. There are currently 32 students enrolled in the program and pursuing the certificate.
"This program reflects Shepherd's commitment to preparing students for meaningful service and global citizenship," said Amy DeWitt, professor of sociology and Peace Corps Prep coordinator. "These students have demonstrated dedication, adaptability, and a strong desire to make a positive impact in the world. We are incredibly proud of their accomplishments and excited to see where their paths lead."
The 2026 recipients of the Peace Corps Prep Certificate are:
Each student will receive an official certificate from the Peace Corps and be recognized at graduation by wearing red, white, and blue honor cords.
The Peace Corps Prep program is open to students across majors and provides a pathway to careers in international service, nonprofit work, government, and other globally focused fields.
