NTCA-The Rural Broadband Association released the following statement from NTCA Executive Vice President Mike Romano after the FCC initiated two proceedings to address excessive delays and fees that impede deployment and modernization of broadband infrastructure:
"NTCA thanks Chairman Carr for his continued focus on easing the process for installing and upgrading broadband network infrastructure. These two proceedings to address the time and cost associated with state and local permitting will build upon the Chairman's efforts already underway to streamline the transition to the delivery of reliable services over advanced networks, and rural consumers will reap the benefits. NTCA has consistently advocated for permitting policies at all levels of government that balance thoughtfully the need for prompt and efficient deployment with respect for environmental considerations and the role of state and local governments in reasonably managing construction activities within their jurisdictions. NTCA looks forward to working with the FCC to craft final rules that deliver new and better services to rural communities without excessive delay or cost."
