Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, today participated in the 22nd ASEAN-India Summit, convened in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The Summit reviewed the progress of ASEAN-India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP) and its future direction, with a view to further advancing an ASEAN-India CSP that is meaningful, substantive, and mutually beneficial.
Following the designation of 2025 as ASEAN-India Year of Tourism, the Summit adopted the ASEAN-India Joint Leaders' Statement on Sustainable Tourism, reaffirming the vital contribution of the tourism sector to economic growth and its important role in fostering people-to-people contacts between ASEAN and India.
Reflecting further commitment to advancing maritime cooperation, the Leaders of ASEAN and India also announced the year 2026 as the "ASEAN-India Year of Maritime Cooperation" and looked forward to jointly developing a dynamic work plan, in accordance with international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
