Congressman McCormick Helps Pass FY27 NDAA, Secures Key Georgia Priorities

Washington, D.C. - Congressman Rich McCormick (GA-07) voted in favor of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year (FY) 2027 (H.R. 8800), passing it out of the House of Representatives this afternoon in a XXX-XXX vote.

The annual defense bill authorizes funding, policies, and priorities to strengthen America's military, support servicemembers and their families, and ensure the United States remains prepared to deter and defeat emerging threats. The package strengthens America's military by rebuilding the defense industrial base, restoring military readiness, supporting emerging technologies, improving servicemembers' quality of life, cutting nearly $30 billion in Pentagon waste, and providing a 5-7 percent pay raise for servicemembers.

"Passing the NDAA reaffirms America's firm commitment to peace through strength," said Congressman McCormick. "As a Marine and physician, I know our military's greatest advantage is the strength of the men and women who wear the uniform, backed by the strongest defense industrial base in the world. This bill rebuilds America's military by investing in readiness, modernizing our defense manufacturing base, improving quality of life for our servicemembers, and ensuring we can outpace adversaries like China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea. I'm especially proud that several priorities I fought for were included to strengthen Georgia's defense industry, improve the health and readiness of our warfighters, and support our national security."

The FY27 NDAA authorizes $1.15 trillion for America's national defense and includes many provisions championed by Congressman McCormick, including:

• Establishment of a site-neutral payments policy for TRICARE in order to reduce growth in military healthcare spending without limiting patients' access to care providers.
• Funding authorizations and legislative language supporting Georgia National Guard's top procurement priorities, the University of North Georgia's participation in the Senior Military College Cyber Institute program, and the defense industrial base in Georgia's 7th District and across our state.
• Codification of military human performance programs by directing the Marine Corps, Navy, Army, Air Force, and Space Force to develop comprehensive strategies that enhance the health, well-being, and readiness of servicemembers.
• A stronger military medicine supply chain through new measures to reduce reliance on prescription drugs sourced from foreign adversaries and encourage the procurement of American-made pharmaceuticals.
