Both chambers have returned to session with a busy week ahead of the scheduled July 4 recess. President Trump is scheduled to meet with Senate Republicans Wednesday, and it is expected that the Iran war, the SAVE Act, the filibuster, and more will be on the agenda. House Speaker Mike Johnsonhas two GOP FY2027 spending bills scheduled on the floor this week -Energy and Water and National Security-State Department.
The House Energy and Commerce Oversight Subcommittee will hold a hearing on "State Medicaid Program Integrity: Examining Fraud Risks and Oversight Deficiencies" on Thursday, June 25 at 10:15 AM ET. The hearing will continue the Committee's oversight work on Medicaid fraud and aims to strengthen program integrity.
Medicaid directors from New York, Ohio, California, and Minnesota are expected to testify. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has requested details from New York, California, and Minnesota about their program integrity practices and has withheld certain federal funds from some of those states over fraud related concerns. The subcommittee has also issued similar information requests to those three states.
The Senate is in session Monday through Friday, and the House is in session Tuesday through Friday.
