ATLANTA - State Representatives Stan Gunter (R-Blairsville), chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, Matt Reeves (R-Duluth), vice chairman of the committee, and Stacey Evans (D-Atlanta), along with members of the House Judiciary Committee, today announce a committee meeting and work session with members of the Georgia Court of Appeals on Friday, July 24, 2026, at 1 p.m. at the University of North Georgia's main campus in Dahlonega, Georgia.
Georgia Court of Appeals Chief Judge Trenton Brown and Judges Elizabeth Gobeil and Ken Hodges were invited by Reps. Evans and Reeves to discuss court of appeals issues and needs during the recent 2026 legislative session. Chairman Gunter, who is a former superior court judge and district attorney, recommended convening a more extensive hearing and discussion, to be held on Friday, July 24, 2026.
In addition to House Judiciary Committee members and Georgia Court of Appeals judges, the representatives encourage members of the pubic, attorneys and other parties knowledgeable about the Georgia Court of Appeals to attend the meeting.
Further details regarding the meeting, including livestream information and the venue at the University of North Georgia, will be announced closer to the meeting date.
