On 7 July 2026, H.E. Mr. Chaichanok Chidchob, Minister of Digital Economy and Society of Thailand, delivered a statement at the High-level Governmental Plenary, Harnessing the benefits of AI for all through Inclusive and interoperable approaches, held as part of the Global Dialogue on AI Governance in Geneva.

The Minister reaffirmed Thailand's commitment to promoting human-centred, trustworthy and inclusive artificial intelligence (AI), stressing that the true value of AI lies in its ability to improve people's lives and contribute to sustainable development. He highlighted Thailand's practical application of AI in disaster management, public service delivery and combating online scams, alongside national efforts to strengthen AI governance through the establishment of the AI Governance Practice Center (AIGPC), the hosting of the UNESCO Ethics of AI Forum 2025, and Thailand's leadership in advancing regional cooperation on AI governance within ASEAN.

The Minister underscored the importance of preventing fragmentation in AI governance through greater international cooperation and interoperable approaches. In this connection, he proposed that Thailand serve as a real-world "AI Governance Sandbox" where governments, industry, academia and civil society could collaboratively test governance frameworks, translate global principles into practical implementation, and share lessons learned. He reaffirmed Thailand's readiness to act as a trusted convener, bridging diverse perspectives across regions and contributing to an inclusive, trusted and sustainable global AI governance ecosystem.
