TRUFUEL Large Package Sizes Updated With Flame Mitigation Device

Calumet has implemented a packaging update for large-format TruFuel and private label engineered fuel products to align with federal safety requirements.

All engineered fuel finished goods with volumes between two and five gallons are now shipping with updated closures that include a flame-mitigation device, in compliance with the Portable Fuel Container Safety Act of 2020 and ASTM standard F3429/F3429M-24.

What Is Changing
The updated closure integrates a flame-mitigation device into the Flexspout to help prevent an external flame or spark from traveling into the container and igniting fuel vapors. The closures also include tamper-evident components to clearly indicate first use.

To support supply continuity, two certified closure designs may be used interchangeably. While minor visual differences may exist, both closures meet the same safety, durability, and performance standards. There are no changes to the fuel, container size, or outer packaging.

Timing and Availability
All engineered fuel products packaged on or after January 12, 2026 include the updated closure. Products packaged prior to this date may continue to be sold until existing inventory is depleted.
