NCPA October 4, 2026
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Oct. 4, 2026) - The National Community Pharmacists Association is pleased to announce that T.J. Woodard, PharmD, owner of Prescriptions to Geaux, which has two locations in Baton Rouge, La., is the winner of the 2026 NCPA Willard B. Simmons Independent Pharmacist of the Year Award. The award was presented as part of NCPA's Annual Convention, being held Oct. 3-6 in Kansas City, Mo.
The annual award is given to a pharmacist who exhibits exemplary professional leadership, service to community, and commitment to independent pharmacy. It is named in honor of Willard B. Simmons, a former executive secretary of NCPA (then known as the National Association of Retail Druggists) and a longtime trustee of the NCPA Foundation.
Woodard earned his Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Louisiana at Monroe in 2007 and his Master of Business Administration from Louisiana State University in 2011. In 2013, after working for several years in retail chain pharmacies, he and his wife, Aimee, who is also a pharmacist, opened their first pharmacy in downtown Baton Rouge. They aim to abide by the principle of the Golden Rule: treating others the way you'd want to be treated.
He is actively involved in the pharmacy profession at both the state and national levels. Woodard serves on the Board of Directors of the Louisiana Independent Pharmacies Association and on NCPA's Committee on State Legislation and Regulation. Through these organizations, he is regularly involved in advocating for independent pharmacies and helping shape pharmacy-related legislation and regulations. His contributions to the profession have been recognized with numerous honors, including the Bowl of Hygeia award.
Outside of pharmacy, Woodard enjoys spending time with Aimee and their three children, whether that's on family trips, coaching sports teams, or elsewhere. He also describes himself as a rabid LSU fan.
