Road, sidewalk closure on Park Avenue between Seventh and Eighth streets for water line connections, Oct. 30-Nov. 20
(COLUMBIA, MO)- Beginning at 7 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, Emery Sapp and Sons, contractor for the Columbia Housing Authority, will close Park Avenue between North Seventh and Eighth streets. The closure will allow crews to make water line connections for the East Park Avenue Apartments.
A previous press release provided details about the closure of Park Avenue near South Providence Road. That closure has ended effective today, Oct. 27. Crews will next shift operations to Park Avenue between North Seventh and Eighth streets.
The sidewalk on the north side of Park Avenue between North Seventh and Eighth streets will be closed during this phase. The south sidewalk will remain open and signs will direct pedestrians to safe crossing points.
The work will also result in the temporary closure of four parking meters on the south side of Park Avenue. "No parking" signs or bags will be placed on the affected meters at least 24 hours prior to the start of the closure.
In addition, all three entrances and exits to the Armory Sports and Recreation Center parking lot along Park Avenue will be closed. Drivers should access the lot from East Ash Street.
Work is expected to be completed and the road reopened by 5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, weather permitting.
