Tempe Public Library August Newsletter

The new school year is here, and the library is packed with free programs to help students of all ages learn, create and succeed. For our youngest learners and their caregivers, Budding Builders offers a fun, twice-monthly Thursday building adventure designed to spark creativity with blocks and LEGO® bricks. If your child wants to boost their reading confidence, they can practice in a relaxed setting with Finn and Roxy, our friendly registered therapy dogs, during our weekly Thursday Paws 2 Read sessions. For elementary students looking for academic support, Page Turners(registration required) pairs children ages 6 to 12 with ASU honors students on Wednesdays for inspiring, one-on-one reading mentorship that builds long-term trust and skills.

We also have incredible hands-on tech opportunities just for teens ages 12 to 18. In our Level UP LEGO® program, students dive into SPIKE Essential kits, using storytelling and familiar building elements to solve complex, real-world STEAM problems every Tuesday. Additionally, our weekly Wednesday Maker Lab sessions give teens direct access to cutting-edge tools like virtual reality, 3D printing and laser cutting, allowing them to experiment and build future-ready skills.

Whether your child's goal is to master new technology, gain reading confidence, or simply explore their imagination, the library has a program for them this school year. Check out what we have in store this school year!
