On 17 June 2026 in Vienna, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Igor Sekreta, met with the Director General of the United Nations Office in Vienna and Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), Monica Juma.

The parties discussed the current state and future prospects of cooperation between Belarus and the UNODC, and exchanged views on topical issues on the international agenda and on strengthening multilateral cooperation within the UN system.

The Deputy Minister congratulated Monica Juma on her appointment and emphasised our country's unwavering commitment to the principles of multilateralism, dialogue and the central role of the UN in tackling global challenges.

The sides paid particular attention to cooperation between Belarus and the UNODC in the field of combating human trafficking. Igor Sekreta noted the importance of preserving the universal and depoliticised nature of international cooperation in the fight against crime and of strengthening the collective efforts of states to combat modern forms of human exploitation.

The parties discussed the outcomes of the 35th session of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, held in Vienna on 1-5 June 2026, including the adoption by consensus of the Belarusian-Kazakh resolution 'Combating Trafficking in Persons for the Purpose of Forced Criminality'. Monica Juma noted the consistency of Belarus's position and our country's significant contribution to advancing international efforts to combat human trafficking and strengthening international cooperation in this field.

The parties reaffirmed their shared commitment to further developing constructive cooperation in areas falling within the mandate of the UNODC.
