Retirement plan overview sessions, Oct. 3
UAA Employee Experience will present a series of retirement plan overview sessions for employees on Oct. 3.
Three sessions are available: two for employees in PERS Defined Benefit (Tiers 1-3) or TRS Defined Benefit (Tiers 1-2) and one for employees in PERS or TRS Defined Contribution plans (hired after July 1, 2006).
The presenter will be Becky Sheridan, a retirement counselor with the Division of Retirement and Benefits with the State of Alaska for 11 years.
TRS Retirement Process, Friday, Oct. 3, 8:15-10:15 a.m.
This seminar is designed for TRS Tier I members hired between July 1, 1955 and June 30, 1990 and Tier II members who entered service between June 30, 1990 and June 30, 2006. The interactive session covers the retirement process, eligibility, vesting, service and benefit calculations, early and normal retirement, increasing service credit, survivor options, retiree insurance options, after retirement increases and the timing of benefits.
PERS Retirement Process, Friday, Oct. 3, 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
This seminar is designed for PERS Tier I members hired between 1/1/1961 - 6/30/1986, Tier II members who entered service between 7/1/1986 - 6/30/1996, and Tier III members who entered service between 7/1/1996 - 6/30/2006. The interactive session covers the retirement process, Voluntary Savings Plan, eligibility, vesting, service and benefit calculations, early and normal retirement, increasing service credit, survivor options, retiree insurance options, after retirement increases and the timing of benefits.
Introduction to PERS and TRS Defined Contribution Retirement Plan (DCR), Friday, Oct. 3, 1:30-3:30 p.m.
This seminar is designed for Public Employee's Retirement System (PERS) and Teacher's Retirement System (TRS) members who entered service after July 1, 2006. The interactive session covers this retirement plan and includes information about the defined contribution account, financial advice services, retiree insurance plans, Health Reimbursement Arrangement, occupational disability, eligibility, vesting, investment options, distribution and additional resources available.
