SCC Schedules Hearing in Brunswick County on Proposed Monarch Solar Project

RICHMOND -

The State Corporation Commission has scheduled a local hearing to accept public testimony about Monarch Solar LLC's proposed solar generating facility, battery storage system and associated facilities in Brunswick and Greensville counties.

The local hearing will take place February 5, 2026, at 6 p.m. at the Brunswick County Conference Center,100 Athletic Field Roadin Lawrenceville. It will be open to the public. No advance registration is required. Those wishing to testify can sign up at the hearing.

In addition, the Commission invites members of the public to testify about the proposal by telephone on March 18, 2026,starting at 10 a.m. Participants by telephone should register no later than March 4 by filling out the appropriate formon the SCC's website or calling 804-371-9141. Registrations should refer to case number PUR-2025-00150.

Each witness giving testimony at the local hearing or by telephone will be allotted approximately five minutes to provide testimony.Public witnesses registered to testify by telephone will be called by Commission court personnel in the order in which they registered. If a public witness is not available when called, the Commission will call the next registered witness.

Anyone wishing to comment on Monarch Solar's proposal may do so by submitting commentson the SCC website or by mailing comments to the Clerk of the State Corporation Commission, c/o Document Control Center, P.O. Box 2118, Richmond, Virginia 23218-2118. All comments should refer to Case No. PUR-2025-00150. Comments are due on or before March 4, 2026.

Monarch Solar is seeking the Commission's approval to construct and operatea solar generating facility totaling up to 400 megawatts, a 300-megawatt battery energy storage system and the associated facilities requiredto connect to the transmission system. The proposal includes a transmission line running approximately 5 miles to connect with an existing Dominion line in Greensville County. Details can be found in the full case file.

If approved, the project is anticipated to be in service before late 2030.
