Michigan Corn Growers Praise State Action to Maintain E15 Access

The Michigan Corn Growers Association (MCGA) today praised Governor Gretchen Whitmer for taking action to allow Michigan drivers to maintain access to E15, a lower-cost and lower-emission fuel blend that contains 15 percent ethanol. In response, Michigan farmer and Michigan Corn Growers Association President John Delmotte released the following statement:

"We appreciate Governor Whitmer for taking quick action to ensure that Michigan will benefit from continued access to E15. We also want to thank Representative Jerry Neyer and his colleagues in the Michigan House for helping raise this important issue and advocating on behalf of our farmers. This decision will benefit Michigan's drivers by giving them access to cheaper options at the pump and benefit farmers by allowing us to use more ethanol made from Michigan-grown corn in our fuel supply."

Last week, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced that it would use its existing authority to prevent drivers from losing access to E15 this summer. MCGA applauded the decision and called on the Governor's office to take action to ensure that Michigan drivers could take full advantage of the waiver. Representative Jerry Neyer also sent a letter to the Governor's office from members of the Michigan House of Representatives advocating for action on the issue.
