On December 24, 2025, shortly before 2:00 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service arrested 33-year-old Wilson HORNBROOK and a 24-year-old woman following a traffic stop regarding a 2021 Toyota Tundra and its occupants involved in a assault weapon incident earlier in the afternoon.

Shortly before 12:45 p.m., HORNBROOK attended a gas station located at Abinojii Mikanah and St. Anne's Road in the Toyota Tundra. During their stop, HORNBROOK became involved in a verbal confrontation with a 59-year-old man. The argument escalated when HORNBROOK sprayed the victim with bear spray repellent, and returned to the Tundra. As the victim attempted to stop HORNBROOK, the woman drove away, dragging the victim a short distance. The victim was transported to hospital in stable condition and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

At 12:51 p.m., the Tundra was observed by patrolling East District General Patrol units travelling northbound Lagimodière Boulevard approaching Marion Street. Officers stopped the Tundra at the intersection of Lagimodière Boulevard and Fermor Avenue. An uncooperative HORNBROOK was extracted from the vehicle and placed under arrest while the 24-year-old woman was arrested without incident. Officers seized a canister of bear spray, drug paraphernalia, and $600 CDN after searching the vehicle.

HORNBROOK is charged with Assault with a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon, Resist Arrest, Possession of Proceeds Obtained by Crime Under $5,000, Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order x 2, and Fail to Comply with Probation Order. He was detained in custody.

The 24-year-old woman faces a charge of Flight While Pursued by Peace Officer and was released on an Undertaking to attend court at a later date.
