George Bush Boulevard Bascule Bridge Reopens Two Weeks Early Following Bridge Deck Repairs

The George Bush Boulevard Bascule Bridge over the Intracoastal Waterway reopened to vehicular and pedestrian traffic at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2026, more than two weeks ahead of schedule. The bridge was closed on June 1 for essential bridge deck repairs, and the reopening was expected to take place on July 20.

The bridge is a vital connection across the Intracoastal Waterway in Delray Beach. Palm Beach County Engineering and Public Works (EPW) appreciates the community's patience during this temporary inconvenience. These efforts are aimed at enhancing the safety and efficiency of the County's infrastructure.
