Principality of Monaco - On the occasion of the Ninth Italian Research Day in the World, the Embassy of Italy in the Principality of Monaco organised, on 21 April, a conference at the prestigious Oceanographic Museum of Monaco, devoted to the International Commission for the Scientific Exploration of the Mediterranean Sea (CIESM), focusing on scientific cooperation, biodiversity protection and climate challenges in the Mediterranean. The event was entitled: "Italy and CIESM: a story looking to the future".
In her remarks, Ambassador Manuela Ruosi underscored the central role played by CIESM for over a century in advancing knowledge, protection and sustainable management of the Mediterranean. Speakers at the conference included Dr Laura Giuliano, Director of CIESM; Dr Gianmarco Luna, Research Director at CNR-IRBIM; and Professor Emanuela Fanelli of the Marche Polytechnic University.
At the conclusion of the event, Ambassador Ruosi conferred the honour of Knight of the Order of the Star of Italy upon Director Giuliano, in recognition of her professional activity at the helm of CIESM since 2023, where she has contributed to strengthening international scientific cooperation in the Mediterranean.
