Unearth Hidden Gems this summer with a new programme of Armagh City Guided Walking...

The Ancient Cathedral City of Armagh is undoubtedly one of the most visually stunning and historically intriguing locations on the island of Ireland. From pre-historic landscapes to an unmatched Georgian architecture, modern day Armagh is built against a rich backdrop of antiquity, clearly visible through its iconic buildings and beautiful open spaces.

One of the best ways to discover the delights of the city, and become immersed in its culture, past and present, is through an official guided walking tour.

Under the guidance of an experienced tour guide, you can walk through Armagh's vibrant and varied history as you hear stories and anecdotes about the area, learn about the city's renowned Georgian architecture and take a leisurely stroll along the distinct cobbled streets as you uncover some of the city's hidden gems along the way.

This year's programme has some exciting new additions to the schedule with the introduction of three new tours, namely the Blue Plaque tour on Sat 1 August which weaves walkers through the city, exploring these historical markers which commemorate Armagh's famous sons and daughters and their achievements.

From Cathedral to City- Pilgrim's Passport Tour follows a journey through the spiritual heart of Ireland's ecclesiastical capital. This tour operates on selected Sundays in June, July, August and September.

Secrets Beneath the City Tour which will run on selected Saturdays from June to August at 2pm is animmersive guided tour exploring Armagh's Celtic myths and hidden history, ending with exclusive access to 13th-century crypt of St. Patrick's Church of Ireland Cathedral.

Guided walking tours - a long established and popular way to explore the city - also return to offer the perfect introduction to Armagh, bringing its story to life from pre-Christian origins through to the present day. Tours operate each Thursday to Saturday at 11 am from 18th June until 6th September.

The popular guided tours of the Archbishop's Palace also return for summer, running on selected Sundays in June, July, August at 2pm. This tour will provide a glimpse into the Palace building, its history and heritage,along with an insight into the life of Archbishop Robinson who built it.

Sensible footwear and clothing is highly recommended and please note some uneven, steep or narrow streets will be part of the tour.
