Patients with diabetes often have many other health concerns, so having a good program to manage their care is imperative. Mercy's focus on diabetes and other endocrinology programs has earned it a spot on Becker's Hospital Review's list for "Hospitals and health systems with great diabetes and endocrinology programs," one of only 51 listed.
Becker's says those on the list are recognized for their strong commitment to advancing endocrine health. Through specialized programs, innovative initiatives and dedicated service lines, they work to improve the quality of life for patients managing conditions such as diabetes, thyroid disorders, metabolic issues and more.
As early as 2017, Mercy took steps to help patients better manage diabetes with a daily text program. Last year, Mercy was the first health system in the world to implant the FDA-approved Eversense 365 continuous glucose monitor, the only CGM to provide one-year of accurate monitoring with minimal interruptions.
Becker's highlights Mercy's endocrinology department, which includes doctors and registered dietitians who help prevent and treat diabetes and other endocrine disorders. Mercy offers many diabetes-specific services, including classes, individual education and counseling, medication management, follow-up support and education, and a monthly diabetes support group.
Becker's is proud to highlight these outstanding endocrinology programs, which focus on restoring both physical and emotional wellbeing while pushing the boundaries of research and discovery in the field. To compile this list, the editorial team accepted nominations and completed editorial research.
