Rep. Scott Hilton Appointed to Emory University’s Board of Visitors

ATLANTA - State Representative Scott Hilton (R-Peachtree Corners) recently was appointed by Emory University to serve a two-year term on its Board of Visitors.

"I'm honored to join the Emory Board of Visitors and look forward to engaging with the dynamic community of scholars and leaders," said Rep. Hilton. "It's a privilege to contribute to a tradition that values service, innovation and meaningful connection. I'm especially excited to learn from Emory's thought leaders and explore ways to strengthen the relationship between higher education, community engagement and public policy to better serve the people of our state."

Established in 1958, the Emory Board of Visitors was created to build and maintain partnerships between the university and the broader community. The board's objective is to reflect Emory's commitment to extending its reach beyond campus and engaging leaders who embody the university's mission "to create, preserve, teach and apply knowledge in the service of humanity."

The board seeks to connect executive leaders-CEOs, CFOs, executive directors and senior professionals-from across the corporate, public and nonprofit sectors with the best Emory has to offer.

Less than one-third of board members are Emory alumni, with the goal of allowing non-alumni to engage more directly and encouraging affiliation beyond traditional constituencies. Through a curated program of meetings and presentations, the board seeks to introduce members to bold ideas, bright minds and transformative work happening across Emory's campuses.

The Board of Visitors also serves as a pipeline for future engagement with Emory. Many former members have gone on to serve on-and in some cases chair-other boards and committees across the university.

He was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2016 and re-elected in 2022 and 2024 and currently serves as the Chairman of the Information and Audits Committee and as Secretary of the Education Committee. He also serves on the Public and Community Health, State Properties and Ways & Means committees.
