Storm Alert – Tropical Storm Bertha

Tropical Storm Bertha is moving through the northeastern Gulf with maximum sustained winds of 50 mph. As of early Tuesday, the storm was located about 110 miles south-southwest of Panama City, Florida, and was moving northwest at approximately 5 mph. Bertha is expected to continue northwest to west-northwest today before turning west later this week, moving near the northern Gulf Coast. Some additional strengthening is possible today, followed by gradual weakening through midweek.

Tropical storm conditions are expected along portions of the Alabama coast and southeastern Louisiana from late today through at least Thursday. Bertha may bring 2 to 4 inches of rain, with isolated totals up to 6 inches, increasing the risk of flash flooding in urban and low-lying areas.

Storm surge of 2 to 4 feet is also possible from the mouth of the Mississippi River to the Alabama-Florida border, especially during high tides on Wednesday and Thursday morning. Dangerous surf and rip currents are expected along parts of the northern Gulf Coast.

What This Means for Operations

Mansfield is closely monitoring Tropical Storm Bertha, regional fuel inventories, terminal operations, road conditions, and transportation networks. While the primary impacts are expected to be heavy rainfall and localized flooding, strong winds and coastal conditions could disrupt terminal activity, slow carrier operations, and cause delivery delays in some areas.

Recommended Actions

As a precaution, Mansfield-managed inventory locations will be topped off before the storm to help maintain supply continuity. Consignment fuel locations will continue to be managed separately.

Customers in potentially affected areas are encouraged to top off fuel tanks before conditions deteriorate and submit orders as early as possible to allow additional time for scheduling and delivery. Please also ensure tanks, generators, and other fuel-powered equipment are accessible and ready to receive fuel.

Mansfield will continue to monitor Tropical Storm Bertha and communicate any impacts that could affect deliveries or fuel availability.
