SCB Receives Thailand Excellence Organisation Award from ICF Bangkok Chapter, Strengthening Leadership Capability and Employee Growth Through a "Leader as Coach" Culture
Siam Commercial Bank PCL (SCB) has been awarded the Thailand Excellence Organisation Award at The Bangkok Chapter Awards 2026, presented during the ICF ASEAN Summit 2026. SCB was the only organization to receive this prestigious award, which recognizes organizations that have successfully embedded coaching as a core strategic capability to drive people-centric transformation. The recognition underscores SCB's commitment to developing leaders, empowering employees, and delivering sustainable business performance.
Mr. Worawat Suvagondha, Chief People Officer at SCB, said: "Successful transformation requires more than technology. It also depends on people. Since 2019, SCB has made coaching a key part of how we develop leaders, encouraging them to listen actively, empower employees to think independently and make decisions, and support the growth of their teams. Our goal is to make coaching an integral part of everyday leadership and work practices, enabling employees to continuously learn, adapt, and unlock their full potential while contributing to the Bank's strategic objectives."
SCB has integrated coaching into its people and leadership development approach to strengthen employee engagement, enhance leadership effectiveness, and improve organizational performance. The Bank provides both individual and team coaching through a network of internal and external coaches. Today, more than 80% of SCB managers with people leadership responsibilities have been developed under the Bank's Leader as Coach framework.
Coaching is embedded across key talent development initiatives, including high-potential talent programs, succession planning, leadership transitions, and performance development conversations. These efforts are further supported by internal coaching systems and resources designed to foster a sustainable coaching culture and ensure coaching remains a fundamental part of the Bank's people management and development practices.
In selecting SCB for the award, the judging panel recognized the Bank's sustained commitment to cultivating a Leader as Coach culture and its extensive use of coaching to enhance employee engagement, talent development, and business results. Internal survey findings show that 86% of employees feel their managers actively listen, engage in meaningful career conversations, and support their learning and growth. Meanwhile, 88% reported experiencing coaching-style conversations with their managers and said these interactions have helped strengthen their capabilities, adaptability, and job performance.
The Bank's employee engagement index has also continued to improve since the coaching initiative was launched, reflecting the positive impact of its ongoing investment in coaching and people development.
Beyond its internal initiatives, SCB has extended its coaching expertise to society through its support of the Quality Schools Project, which aims to enhance the capabilities of school administrators by equipping them with coaching-based leadership and people development skills. The initiative helps cultivate inspiring educational leaders and contributes to the sustainable development of education quality and human capital, reflecting SCB's commitment to creating positive social impact beyond the organization.
"This award is a testament to the collective efforts of our leaders and employees in bringing a coaching culture to life across SCB," Mr. Suvagondha added. "We will continue to build on this foundation by developing leaders who empower their teams to grow and succeed, while fostering a workforce that is agile, continuously learning, and ready to embrace change. These qualities are essential to achieving sustainable growth in an increasingly dynamic world."
