Your Leaf Collection Options this Fall

Fall is here, and so are the falling leaves! This year marks Raleigh's final season of loose leaf collection. Beginning Fall 2026, the City will transition to weekly yard waste pickup using carts and biodegradable bags.

This year, you have three options for managing leaves:

  1. Place leaves in your yard waste cart or biodegradable bags on your regular pick up day
  2. Use loose leaf collection (final season begins November 12)
  3. Leave the leaves for an eco-friendly yard

Final Season of Loose Leaf Collection Begins November 12

Want to use loose leaf collection for the final season? Get ready to rake those vibrant leaves into piles near the curb (but please, keep them out of the street) for our special collection crews.

Raleigh is divided into 12 zones for this service. This year, leaf season will begin in Zone 11. Our crews will make their way through the remaining zones as weather and equipment allow. Be sure to check the collection schedule or our interactive map to find out the best days to place your leaves out for pickup. Find your collection schedule: Seasonal Loose Leaf Collection
