FEMA Announces Over $12.3 Million in Disaster Recovery Grants to Oklahoma Communities

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK - US Senator James Lankford (R-OK) today announced the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has awarded four Public Assistance grants to Oklahoma communities totaling more than $12.3 million. The grants will reimburse local entities for the cost of repairs to electrical infrastructure, roads, and public buildings damaged by severe storms, tornadoes, and winter weather.

"From restoring power in Northwestern Oklahoma to rebuilding county roads and public buildings in Eastern Oklahoma, these FEMA awards will help Oklahoma communities recover from the tornadoes, ice storms, and flooding that impacted our state," said Lankford. "We have stayed in close contact with FEMA leadership to help finalize these grants, and I'm glad to see these federal resources supporting the agencies and local governments that stepped up to respond when Oklahomans needed them most."

Tri-County Electric Cooperative - Winter Storm Recovery

FEMA has awarded $7.5 million in additional federal funding to Tri-County Electric Cooperative to close out repairs to its electrical grid in Beaver County following a severe winter storm that knocked out power to approximately 7,000 customers in 2017. Crews moved or replaced more than 2,000 power poles, 227 transformers and 115 miles of power line.

Tri-County Electric Cooperative - Severe Storm, Tornado, and Flooding Recovery

A second award of $4.75 million will go to Tri-County Electric Cooperative for closeout costs tied to storm, tornado, and flooding damage across Cimarron, Texas, and Beaver counties in the spring of 2017. That event damaged more than 2,000 electric poles, nearly 400 transformers, and 1,400 miles of power line.

Sequoyah County - Road Repairs

FEMA is awarding $121,000 for funding repair or replacement of county roadways damaged by severe storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes, and flooding in 2019.

Town of Yale - Public Building Repairs

FEMA is awarding $193,000 for building repairs and restoration in the Town of Yale following severe storms, straight-line winds, and tornadoes that struck in 2023.

In addition to public assistance grants, FEMA also announced more than one million dollars in fire management assistance grants awarded to the Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management to partially reimburse firefighting costs from five 2025 wildfires.
