Veto Session is NEXT WEEK!
Here's what we're expecting in Springfield
• Budget Concerns: Democrats may take up measures to address potential shortfalls in the state budget. Since taking office, Governor Pritzker has increased state spending by roughly 40% and signed the largest budget in Illinois history ($55.2 billion) in July.
• New Democratic Proposals: There's talk of proposals to mandate voting for all eligible voters and to change when and how local elections are conducted across the state. Democrats are also floating a proposal to create a new service tax that would add taxes to more than 80 everyday services such as haircuts, vehicle repairs, dry cleaning, and so much more.
• What SHOULD be discussed (but most likely wont be):
-Meaningful tax relief for families and small businesses
-An end to the state's failed sanctuary policies
-Reforming the broken SAFE-T Act to restore public safety
-Ethics reform to finally tackle the decades of corruption in state government
Illinois families deserve better. I'll continue fighting for what matters to you!
