EUMAM MOZ delivers lecture on Gender Equality and Gender-Based Violence

The session addressed the fundamental principles of gender equality, the different forms of gender-based violence, and the relevant applicable legal frameworks. The existing challenges in Mozambique were also examined, with particular emphasis on the cultural and structural barriers that persist within the armed forces.

As part of the training, the Women, Peace and Security Agenda was presented, promoting a comparative reflection between the experiences of Mozambique and other nations. This approach encouraged participants to consider different perspectives and practices aimed at strengthening gender equality within military institutions.

The session concluded with a clear message on the importance of a continuous commitment by leaders and institutions to promoting effective and lasting gender equality. The essential role of women as agents of positive and sustainable change within the armed forces and society in general was also emphasised.
