Hello everyone and happy Monday!
Tomorrow, Illinois legislators head back to Springfield for our final week of veto session. Our first week of veto session earlier this month resulted in zero work done for the people of Illinois.
Despite the urgent need for property tax reform, public safety reform, energy policy reform, and more, Illinois Democrats didn't call one substantive bill for a vote. Illinois families can't wait any longer, we must provide substantial relief now!
I will continue praying to see positive changes come out of Springfield this week.
Back home, my office hosted a Utility Bill Clinic to help constituents lower the cost of their utility bills. We also announced a Winter Clothing Drive to help local families in need. More information on that below.
As always, please feel free to reach out to my office at any time. We are here to serve you!
My office is partnering with the Regional Office of Education #47 to host a Winter Clothing Donation Drive! Let's come together as a community to ensure everyone has warm clothing for the winter season. Beginning November 1st, you can donate via our Amazon wishlist or by dropping off NEW items at one of our 18 drop off locations.
OSF Saint Katharine Medical Center (previously KSB Hospital) hosted a town hall meeting to update our community about their current projects and future plans. My office attended to hear more about what healthcare in our region will look like following their changes in ownership. Thank you to OSF for inviting the community to this informational meeting!
My office attended a ribbon cutting ceremony at the new Dog Trot Pottery in downtown Dixon to celebrate their grand opening and officially joining Discover Dixon. Welcome to the community!
Rock River Valley Self Help Enterprises, Inc hosted their annual Client Awards Banquet in Rock Falls. This annual banquet honors the volunteers, clients, and community partners who work to make Self Help successful in their mission to provide programs for those with disabilities.
Congratulations to HB Wilkinson Title Company, Inc. on your new location in Dixon! My office attended their ribbon-cutting and open house to celebrate their new spot and their official membership with our local chambers of commerce.
My office hosted a Utility Bill Clinic at the Sterling Public Library. The Citizens Utility Board (CUB) assisted constituents by providing information on ways to lower utility bill costs. With skyrocketing utility costs for residents across the 74th, this was a much-needed informational event. Thanks to the CUB for teaming up with us on this clinic!
In honor of National Manufacturing Month, the Illinois Manufacturers' Association is hosting its annual 'Makers on the Move' tour. They recently stopped at P&P Industries in Sterling to highlight their work as a family-owned, custom injection molding company.
The Makers on the Move Tour, hosted by the Illinois Manufacturers' Association and IMEC, stopped just outside of the 74th at The Suter Company, Inc. in Sycamore. Not only were they celebrating the tour, but also recognizing their 100th anniversary! Congratulations to The Suter Company on 100 years, looking forward to many more years of success!
The final stop on the Makers on the Move tour in the 74th District was at BorgWarner in Dixon. BorgWarner produces vehicle parts utilized in production around the world. Thank you to the Illinois Manufacturers' Association and IMEC for hosting this annual tour!
My office was proud to attend the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Hill Street Neighborhood in Mt. Morris. This community is designed specifically for those with intellectual and physical disabilities. Hoping we get to see more of these neighborhoods developed across our region!
