Vicor Corporation (Andover, MA) announced that its Japanese subsidiary, Vicor K.K. (Shinagawa, Tokyo), will present at the Automotive Engineering Exposition 2026 ONLINE STAGE 1, organized by the Society of Automotive Engineers of Japan, Inc., starting today.
At this online exhibition, Vicor will address the topic of "Efficient 48V power conversion for advanced automotive applications with Vicor modules" presented by Seishi Tsukimoto, Senior Application Engineer at Vicor K.K. In this session, he will explain the power electronics challenges automotive OEMs and Tier Ones face today and introduce compact solutions to optimize your power delivery network.
He will explain how Vicor's proprietary power architecture and fixed-ratio DC-DC converters enable efficient conversion from high voltage to safe 48V power. In addition, he will cover optimal power delivery for regenerative and pulsed loads that leverage bidirectional capabilities and the fastest transient response in the industry.
Additionally, he will share real-life automotive application examples from Tier 1 suppliers, including active suspension systems, cabin heating and windshield de-icing systems. Today he is working closely with automotive OEMs and Tier Ones and to design compact, lightweight, and highly efficient power systems using high-performance power modules.
At the Automotive Engineering Exposition 2026 YOKOHAMA (held May 27-29), the Canada-Ontario Booth will feature a windshield de-icing system by Betterfrost, which incorporates Vicor's power system solutions. Betterfrost has developed an optimized power control for heated windshields and glass that leverages Vicor's high power density DC-DC converter modules and Betterfrost's software controls. This system is able to remove frost, snow and ice from the windshield exterior and also defog the interior window surfaces while reducing total cabin energy use during driving.
