KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany - Twenty-three years ago, Lucy Chesoli-Reinhard moved from her native country of Kenya to Germany. Now she works for the U.S. Army as a local national employee with Base Support Operations Transportation, 405th Army Field Support Brigade.

Chesoli-Reinhard has done much in a short span of time. Initially, she worked as a transportation assistant at the Drivers Testing and Training Station with Logistics Readiness Center Rheinland-Pfalz. Simultaneously, she continued raising her three children and supporting her husband, now a legal counselor and attorney with the Army and Air Force Exchange Service at Sembach.

Having a background in travel management, Chesoli-Reinhard also worked as a transportation assistant, lead transportation assistant, and supervisory traffic management specialist. And currently she's transitioning to another senior position as the chief of quality assurance with BASOPS Trans.

In total, Chesoli-Reinhard has worked within the 405th AFSB for more than nine years, six years with LRC Rheinland-Pfalz and now three years with BASOPS Trans. And recently she was selected as the BASOPS Trans employee of the quarter for 4th Quarter, Fiscal Year 2025.

Acting BASOPS Trans Director Reginald King congratulated Chesoli-Reinhard with kind words of praise and appreciation. He said her selection was a direct representation of her hard work and dedication.

"Thank you for executing your duties in a professional manner, which directly assists in getting European [Outside of Continental United States] personnel in place to support the defense of our nation," King said.

"Honestly, I love working for the U.S. Army," said Chesoli-Reinhard. "It has given me a platform to explore my potential fully and be the best person I can be, professionally."

Chesoli-Reinhard said it's very encouraging to be recognized by her leadership and her team, and it only motivates her to do better, but what motivates her the most, she said, is helping service members and their families.

"When we talk about these personal property shipments my team and I handle, that's something very personal to our service members and their families. That's something very personal that means a great deal to them," she said.

"It's tied to their memories, their comfort, and their sense of home," Chesoli-Reinhard said. "That's why we always try to ensure their personal property is safely transported to the next location, no matter what the circumstances. It could be a first-time private arriving in a foreign country, unsure of the process, or a seasoned colonel who knows transportation well. All are treated with the same level of respect and professionalism."

"Efficiency and accountability keep our mission sustainable. And when we succeed - when a family feels secure, a service member can focus on his duty, or a student can study without worry - we know we've accomplished something meaningful," Chesoli-Reinhard said.

With its Consolidated Personal Property Shipping Office and European Travel Branch, BASOPS Trans is a field operating activity under the 405th AFSB providing back-office support functions for personal property shipping, official travel services and quality control for the U.S. military communities in Belgium, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, and more.
