Ocasio-Cortez Submits 11 Amendments to the National Defense Authorization Act

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY-14) sponsored 11 amendments to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) that increase oversight over foreign military sales and uphold human rights commitments across the world.

Ocasio-Cortez 810

Prohibits the transfer or provision of any defense articles and services pending Congressional authorization and written Presidential assurances that the recipient country is not restricting the transport or delivery of humanitarian assistance and is complying with international law.

Requires the Department of Defense to publish a report on the use of any military facilities in Puerto Rico.

Requires that the Secretary of Defense submit a certification addressing human and civil rights violations in Peru after the mass killing of protesters in Peru in 2022 and 2023.
